EVALUATION
OF THE NUTRITION AND HEALTH STATUS OF THE LOW-INCOME
POPULATION
The
purpose of this study is to evaluate the nutrition and
health status of the low-income population as a means of
assessing the contribution of the Food and Consumer
Service Food Assistance Programs as a nutritional safety
net for safeguarding the diets and nutritional health
over the last thirty years. The main elements of this
safety net are the Food Stamp Program, the Child
Nutrition Programs and the WIC program.
